I bought this Bible for my son who just turned 5. This Bible is a nice introduction to the stories of the Bible and is just right for his age and a few years older (4 - 7 years old). The things I like about this Bible are...* Each Bible story is a short 2 pages. Perfect for younger children.* At the end of each story their is a short summary of how to the story applies to the child's life.* After the summary there is a prayer that also applies to the story.* At the beginning of the book are familiar Catholic prayers such as the "Our Father", "Hail Mary", "Glory Be", "Grace", and "Angel of God" (also known as the Guardian Angel Prayer).* At the back of the book there is an activity or extension of each Bible story. An example of the layout of this book is the first story in the book is the story of creation. The summary states "God created everything on this Earth, and then he asked people to take care of his creation." The short prayer reads, "Thank you for creating the world, Lord. Your creation is beautiful." and ends with the sign of the cross and Amen. The activity in the back tells you you need magazines, glue, & paper or cardboard. The directions state to cut pictures of God's creation from magazines and glue them to the cardboard and display it. After the activity is complete you are instructed to ask your child(ren) what he/she/they do to help take care of the world God created.A very nice first Bible for young children.

I have three children ages 5, 4 & 21 months. All of my children love to read this book & I enjoy reading it to them. The pictures are beautiful. The stories are very easy for small eyes & ears to understand. After each story a prayer & the sign of the cross is offered. The stories are wonderful for any religion. Since the sign of the Cross is offered after each story, it may be a little confusing children of other faiths, but still very enjoyable to read. I highly recommend this book as a tool for Catholic parents to introduce the scription to small children. A very nice baby gift for new Catholic parents.

Doris Ettlinger's gorgeous watercolor illustrations make this bible a gorgeous choice for any Sunday-schooler. Each story is enhanced by the vibrant color renditions of its characters. An excellent choice.

I checked out a lot of different Catholic kids' bibles and most are pretty lame. I like this one pretty well, and my kids do too. I'd say this one's good for kids ranging from ages 3 to 7. The pictures are good, the stories aren't dumbed down too much, and it's theologically correct (it's even got an imprimatur)*. I also like that each story comes with a reflection and prayer. Overall, an excellent little Bible.*I wondered, though, when the author says that John the Baptist's baptism forgave sins; I don't think that's theologically accurate but given the overall quality of the book, it seems a minor quibble.

I like the illustrations and my 4 year old daughter enjoys one or two stories from the book every night for her bedtime story time. We do the prayer at the end of each section together and I enjoy the fact that the stories are no more than 2 pages long and each page has a wonderful, colorful illustration to keep a curious toddler engaged while the parent reads the narrative. The only thing I would change would be to add more biblical stories with a lesson. I would have less about the miracles of Jesus and more about stories that exemplify kindness or fairness or goodness, etc.

My children, ages 5 and 3, love this little Bible. It greatly simplifies the stories, yet teaches little ones a great deal. The stories are just the right length and get the point across before my kids lose interest. Nice illustrations, too--the kids ask lots of questions about the pictures. I love the short prayers included at the end of each Bible story, too!

I bought this Bible to share with all of my kids, but my oldest took to it when he was just 3 years old. He asked me to read bible stories from this book every night. He is 5 now and and his younger brother now loves it, too. It's beautifully animated and the wording is very easy for them to understand. The stories are also a page or two long which is great for short attention spans.

I teach a first grade CCD class and am always looking for literature to enrich my class. The drawings are beautiful!! Probably the best illustrated children's bible I have purchased, and I have five. The disappointing aspect is that the stories are only at most two pages long, this leads to very little content. The only application I can think of is to use this as a starting point for an introduction to the Bible stories and then after find more detailed accounts in another children's bible. I use it for the illustrations. I purchased it as a used copy for about four dollars- it is in excellent condition. I am pleased with the book for the artwork alone.
