As we are planning for VBS 2015 for our church, we felt strongly to do it on the theme of "The Armor of God".I was researching for months for good materials to use as a guide and this book is exactly what I wanted. The book is easy to understand and very practical for kids (really, good for all ages).It is filled with good memory verses and appropriate illustrations that we can use as skits. Thank you Dr. Tony Evans!!!
This an excellent resource for tweens and teens. It gives kids a different perspective: that there is a spiritual battle going on around us but that God gives us an armor to fight. There is a chapter about each piece of God's armor and a chapter at the end about undergirding everything with prayer. I thought this book was so well-done! There are Bible verses throughout so that the explanations are Biblically-based. The analogies and examples that the author uses really help explain the concepts. There are questions throughout each chapter to engage the reader and questions at the end of chapters for review and application. I think this book could be used as a Bible study resource in addition to just being a great book for older elementary and middle school-aged children to read. I have heard many sermons about the armor of God but the author lays out excellent explanations that I have never even heard before so this would be great for adults to read as well! This book is an excellent tool for using Biblical truths to teach children about spiritual warfare. Tony Evans does an excellent job of explaining deep theology at a child's level with plenty of scripture, examples, interactive questions, and explanation to make it clear to them. My co-teacher and I read this book and then discussed each chapter with our class while creating a lap book to go with each chapter. Overall a very fruitful study.
My daughter has really enjoyed this book. I have heard her quote or reference some lessons about being sad to her brother. It made my heart swell. She asked to take it to Sunday school along with her bible.
Tony Evans is such a gifted Bible teacher for adults but in this book he hits the mark for kiddos, too. We're giving this book to some of our grandsons for Cousin's Camp and we love how Dr. Evans opens God's word about the armor of God.
Awesome study. My Sunday school class is doing Priscilla Schrier's Armor of God so I thought my son and I could use this as his nightly devotion and I could help add in things when we discussed but this has added on to my study instead! We have enjoyed it immensely! I recommend this for kids and adults! It is well written and goes into a lot of depth and explanation so kids (and adults) can visualize the armor and its use.

We are giving these little books out to any of our Awana kids who can recite Eph. 6:10-18. It is a great book to have kids learn about the Armor of God. Tony Evans explains things so clear to 9 yr. olds and up
