My 3 year old granddaughter loves these stories. Yes, as noted in other reviews, the sentences are short and very "child like", but that's exactly what I wanted. At the end of each story is a "What Did you Learn" page with facts from the story (From The Baby in the Basket: "God told the mommy what to do. God told Big Sister what to do. God knew how to take care of baby Moses. He knows how to take care of you too)" Once she is reading, this will be the perfect book for her to read aloud. The print is big and pictures are colorful. While visiting at my house, we read these stories every night for 5 consecutive nights.
Each of the books in all four volumes of the Read Aloud Bible Stories are TREASURES. When our four children were little, we must have read many of the stories several times a day. The illustrations are bright and wonderful and so engaging and thoughtful. And Lindvall brings out the best storyteller in all of us to engage children by including things like, "Now lots of people were walking. Step, step, step. And lots of people were talking. Talk, talk, talk."These books are designed for 1-4 year olds, but you can start reading to your baby long before he or she is a year old, especially with these gems. And they are perfect for family worship or devotions--especially if you're observing the 5 B's: Be Brief, Baby, Be Brief!
This series of books has been my twins' favorite book for bible stories ever since they were babies! The stories are simple and broken down into words they can relate to and the illustrations are big, and bold and grab their attention. My daughter could re-tell you the stories from memory at the age of three and now my kids are 5 1/2 they still request this book. Highly recommend!!
My grandma had the first volume for me when I was a kid and I went searching for this set to read to my infant son. I like that the pictures are brightly colored, yet simple. The text is simple and repetitive. From a Christians' point of view - I love that my son is learning Bible stories in a simple format that he'll be able to grasp in a few years. From a teacher's point of view - the repetitive nature of the text lends itself to helping children learn to read.
I have used the Read Aloud Bible Stories with children for more than 15 years. My children and I have used them with all sorts of children's groups. They have always been a favorite, encouraging the children to anticipate and participate in the stories.
Great curation of biblical stories. The pacing is good and the word choice is perfect for my 7yr-old who is fine at learning to read, but would rather not do it. Keeps him moving through the story, but is not too easy and challenges him enough. It's good that there's multiple volumes because he starts to memorize them. Overall, very happy for how they work for us. Also, the "what did you learn" page at the end of every story is consistent in it's reading level, but also drives home great concepts from the story itself.

Amazing series of Bible story books! Stories are short, brightly-illustrated, and simply-worded to hold a very young child's interest. If you are a Sunday school teacher of toddlers/preschool children, it is easy to build a lesson around these stories. These stories capture and hold my 2 year old granddaughter's attention!
