I purchased this atlas for my 7 year old and was a bit disappointed in the details. Their recommendation for this atlas is for ages 6-10. I would say its for ages 4 - 6. Many of the states have four factual sentences and several pictures with captions. It was too basic for our needs. I purchased National Geographic's World Atlas for Young Explorers and was very pleased. My suggestion is to buy the United States Young Explorers version of this atlas.

I love encouraging my little one to read and learn, this book provides lots for him to explore and learn. He loves maps and at the age of 2 we use this book to talk about a lot of different aspects and places. Great book, glad I made this purchase.

This book was just the thing to help my four-year-old grandson begin to understand the geography of the U.S., which is important for him because all of his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins live in different states. He has used his atlas to follow his family's travels around the country and to recall things he has seen after they return home. With lots of pictures and only a couple of pages for each state, the book is easy to use with a preschooler, but it contains enough information to keep older children engaged, too.

great beginner atlas; my 5 year old loves to look at maps in general This is a great intro to the states, capitals and cities of the US. States are grouped geographically. He will get a few years out of this as he grows.

Awesome book we are incorporating into our elementary schooling. Great for student lead reading or to compliment homeschooling.
