Nursery tales are known pretty well to those of us on Medicare. We know the story, it's the telling that makes the difference.These are told with the right combination of suspense, danger, compassion, humor and surprise.They are fun to read and memorable.
Another favorite Richard Scarry "big book" for us. We love the Busytown series, and all of our children, from the six year old down to the seven month old, love this one. We were familiar with most of the stories (ie, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Bears, and the Billy Goats Gruff), but the Teeny Tiny Woman, which was a new one for us, has especially been a hit. I think it was meant to be kind of a "scary" story, and ended up making us all laugh in the end.Can't go wrong with Richard Scarry!
Traditional telling of the nursery tales with the traditional language. There are so many humorous and artistic interpretations out there--which are amazing in their own right--but it is good for kids to hear the original stories in language that is not dumbed down.
I love this collection of Ricahrd Scarry stories. It reminds me of my childhood. Classic nursery tales such as little red riding hood, the gingerbread man, goldilocks and the bears, and three Billy goats gruff. Classic Richard Scarry illustrations. My children enjoy it very much.
This is an excellent first fairy tale book for young children. The pictures are frequent and cute, while the story is concise enough to engage the very young. Our children and grandchildren all enjoyed this anthology of most lived fairy tales many times over. It makes a great gift.
I grew up reading this book whenever I was at my grandparents' house. It's wonderful to now own it myself so my kids can enjoy the fanciful drawings and classic stories!The book is kind of large (as in taller than your average kid's book) so depending on the kind of book shelf you have you might have to lie it on its side.
Great book for a great deal. We read this to our son and it loves it. Great variety of nursery tales.
I bought this for night time read for my little one. It has several well-known stories in Richard Scarry's famous illustrating. I do'nt have much to complain. only it is a little old fashion if I can say. still bought it as a classic.
