This book is great. I would have liked to see more cultural items in it. The first page about family, though I understand the importance of diversity, it would be easier for the child to comprehend if the picture were of an Asian family, something the child could relate to.
I am learning Vietnamese, and this book has proven to be very helpful to me as I learn the basics of the language. With its colorfully pleasing pages and the large print, I have no difficulty seeing and differentiating the various accents and marks that change the sound, and pitch of the words as I have with the smaller printed lessons that I also use.
I am a parent of biracial kids. I do not speak Vietnamese, but wanted to find a way to introduce basic words to my children. I have exposure to the language and needed a book that would help me with pronunciation, understand the various accents, an focus on proper titles for family, elderly. This book does all of that and is very user friendly. This book allows you to successfully self teach the language and provides great illustrations to help younger learners.
It was given as a gift; the recipient seemed to like it. It's not 100% accurate, but will do the job.
Sent it to Ho Chi Minh City to my 2 yr old grandchild--she loves it! And I love it too!
