Our 21mo old son loved the First Songs book, which I originally checked out from the local library and then purchased for him. I thought he'd also enjoy this Mother Goose book by the same author, but it doesn't seem to hold his attention. Maybe he's too young? If you're going between the two, I'd get the First Songs instead.
The board pages are excellent for toddlers who often tear pages appart. This pages are hard enough for avoiding that. The book has also nice pictures. As a "My first..." this book might be a little short for people that is looking for more Mother Goose's stories, but it's a good start.
I got this book for our 2 month old, now 3 months old, and he loves it! The illustrations are of real people (not all animals like some other Mother Goose books) and totally captivating. I wasn't sure the baby would even be into this but I am so pleased at how much he enjoys it. His favorite is Baa Baa Black Sheep, and he actually smiles and now laughs. We read this book at least once a day. Total hit!!
We own many copies of Tomie dePaola's Mother Goose but this is the best. It is great for little hands. The pages are sturdy and contain the wonderful illustrations that made the big book famous.
Tomi dePaola has a special way of illustrating to present Mother Goose rhymes that should be introduced to every young child. This is my favorite! I especially love the cover.
This is a gift for a one year old baby. She hasn't received the book yet. I thought it was very nice but won't know if the baby likes it until after Christmas.
Buy this board book for friends/ relatives with new babies. Doing my part to make sure young ones have heard at least a few nursery rhymes!
This is an excellent book for little ones. They're wonderfully illustrated and written. I gave it as a baby shower gift and she loved it!
