First things first: I thoroughly enjoyed Apple Black. The artist has very good art skills and interesting characters. The story line is also interesting and unique. It's more rare to find manga plots that involve magic like Apple Black does and I like how Oguguo has it in his story. The art is so good and it's rare to see an artist come out with this level of quality in their first work. The art alone is reason to get the book. Before I get onto anything else I would definitely recommend Apple Black to anybody. No matter what comic book genre you like, Apple Black is worth at least a glance. Now, the reason I gave Apple Black three stars instead of five is because of the grammar and the spelling, the way the book actually looks, and some of the plot. The grammar and punctuation in this book isn't very good. There aren't a lot of overt spelling errors, but there are a lot of punctuation mistakes. There are comma splices and incomplete ellipses, amongst other things. Apple Black needed a professional to edit the text. This is supposed to be a professional book but the writing is riddled with mistakes. The next bad point is the way the book looks. The pages tend to get very pixel-looking. It looks like when you take a smaller image and stretch it too far without fixing the dimensions first. I've seen the online version of Apple Black and it doesn't seem to have the same problem that the printed version does. There's also the issue of the text bubbles. There are a lot of cases in the book where the text only takes up a small percent of a large text bubble or the text isn't centered correctly.Lastly, there are some things in the plot that aren't explained very well.
