I purchased this as a google book. Then decided I wanted the paperback and the testing materials. The Pearson tests do not work correctly and they aren't in any hurry to fix it. The PDF test on the cd, has questions from all over the book. The Pearson test software has questions from all over the book. The function to take a test after each chapter DOES NOT WORK! So if you would like a test after each chapter to see what you need to re read you are SOL and Pearson certainly doesn't care! Also you will find out there are more questions available at Pearson if you pay more money...hmmm The Pearson IT Certification practice tests included in this book are incomplete and do not work as advertised! I may as well go back to the online book from google. Any chance I can get my money back for the paperback and useless test
Used it for online classes at UMUC for reference and citations for the CMIT 320 class. I passed my Security + first time so I would rate it good to great! CD has good practice exams. Definitely worth the costs!
Way too many mistakes in the practice quizzes and tests. Blown away that these made it through publishing with all the mistakes. This will be my last purchase of ExamCram books. These are just the mistakes I have found after a few days of ownership. I am now questioning the validity of the book material. See the attached screenshot....FYI, answer is CCMP. Trick question or bad editing. I would return the book but trying to cram for the test soon.
The book is very well written and the security topics are well organised and focused for the exam. There are also a lotof good practice questions. I looked at several books and this one seemed to be the best. Good book...
I assume the documentation is fine; as far as the e-book portion that is, but my biggest issue is with the promised test questions engine. I have received the link [...] to activate and download the engine, but the link does not exist. After some searching on the webpage (issued pin code is invalid), google, and Youtube I discovered that the test engine only works on a windows platform. I own a Mac which isn't partitioned.No where in the description of this product states that you must have a Windows OS to gain access to the test questions. If I had known I would have not purchased. Once again, I have nothing against the e-book for what I have 'glanced at' seems apt. My complaint is with the non-disclosure of systems requirements.
The book reads like someone is spewing definitions onto a page. While the book provided the information needed for the examination, it was a chore to read. I ended up purchasing another book to complete the certification. I have used the ExamCram series for different certifications from other authors and found them very helpful; unfortunately I cannot say the same for this book. I would suggest looking at a different book for use with the SY0-401 certification.
Great book for studying but do use other material too due to some terms are not in the book. It is also has a lot of repetitive information.
Exam Cram is one of the best and most comprehensive series of books I've found when it comes to passing certification tests. I used it when I took the A+ certification test which notably was very easy in comparison, and once again using a book from the series to study and take my Security+ exam. So what sets this book series apart from others?+ Comprehensive & Easy to Understand Information: It does a great job of explaining information, has exam alerts (meaning important information you'll want to remember for the exam), and even chapter tests.+ Test Simulator: Included with the book is a CD that contains a simulation software to actually test your knowledge for each chapter, or your overall preparedness for the security+ exam. But it does more then just tell you your score, if you get an answer why it tells you why it was wrong. What the correct answer is, and where to find the information in the book.+ Exam Cram (Cram Sheet): This is a great tool so that the night before and morning of the test you can go over this cram sheet to ensure you have all the relevant knowledge memorized, notably as test questions do change it is best to ensure you read the whole book and have a firm grasp of all subject matters.Based on the aforementioned, I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone studying for the Security+ certification exam. As I've had great success with it, as have many of my colleagues. As always I will update this review if you my opinion changes throughout my use of this product, so that it remains current and reflects my current opinion of this product.
