The book renders well on Kindle Fire except for some of the bulleted list and some examples like packet details doesn't flow well with the rest of normal text. It's hard to tell when normal and packet examples are separated. I gave it 4 stars because it's a great book to prepare for an exam. Author will even send more stuff if you review the book. Nothing can prepare you for real life jobs, but this is the best way to try and prepare.
The author has written the book in a way that the info doesn't feel like it goes over your head. If you want to get a good understanding of all the info that needed to pass your CCNA test the first time, then this is the book you will want to read and study. The mini labs are great!! because they'll help you get a good score on the lab portion of the CCNA. Good luck studying!!
This is my second book written by Paul and his team. I took a big bite out of the CCNA in 60 Days and then let myself get distracted prior to finishing it and taking the exam. When this came out I liked the format a little better. Both are great books, I just think this one might flow a little better with my style. Now with the deadline fast approaching for Cisco changing the exam criteria, it is time for us all to get to work!!!!Thank you Paul for your hard work!!!
I like how everything is being explained and even though previous basic networking knowledge acquired in Net+ can be of assistance the book recaps some of those concepts concisely and clearly. However, I do have a gripe here. In the "Rent Online Router Time" under the "How to Do the Labs" it says as it follows "However, there is a free CCNA/ CCNP rack available to members of [...]via the link below: [...] . It clearly states that this tool is free so free means simply free. I tried two methods to double check I was not making any mistake while looking for this study tool on the aforementioned website: First I copied and pasted the provided link after creating an account and being logged onto it and it did not work. Second I instead manually navigated the website and searched for this specific tool. The outcome was mainly that I was prompted to pay for being a member anyway with an incentive of a One week trial with a small fee of $1 then $20 monthly. Now I still want to give the benefit of the doubt but so far i have not had much success in using this "free" crucial tool.. and I would love to be enlightened about how to gain free access to it.
CCNA Simplified is hightly recommended for those who have struggled with taking the exams and have failed in some area. I have read many books and tried a couple of programs and find this to be the best way to achieve success if you are attempting to pass the newer exams. Great writing and content structure for what could be considered a very dry topic! I highly recommend this book! A+, Server+, MSCE, MCP, MCDBA
Cisco CCNA Simplified is an excellent guide for the CCNA exam. I have read several exam preps and this one I find very straight forward and explanatory. I especially benefit from the in chapter mini-labs that provide a checkpoint for covered material, rather than the usual "wait til the end of the chapter" questions (provided as well). Many references and exam hints are provided along with content on website (referenced in the book). Mr Browning and co-authors have put a lot of energy into making CCNA content understandable.
Covers everything for the exam aspect and prepares you for real world application. I'm only halfway through the Kindle version and I will definitely keep this as my 'go to' for examples...I usually have to read them again and again since they are very technical. Best if you are taking the exam soon.
So far so good. The authors explain this complex matter in a very simple and clear way. The book has many illustrations and useful tips. I will provide a detailed review after I complete reading the book.
