This is a short (110 pgs.) and simple book that outlines the history of the Presbyterian Church throughout the world. I found a lot of interesting facts and information in this book concerning the beginnings of not just the Presbyterian Church but others such as the Catholic and Anglican churches. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to gain a little more insight into the history of not just the Presbyterian church but of Christianity as well.
While looking for a book to fill a gap for a class presentation I came across this and did not think much of it, until I started actually using it. The author and editor packed this with a wealth of material that is easy to get to and use that I have not found anywhere else. It is very practical and readable, brief and to the point. As a long-time student of Church history, I value the balanced treatment the writers give throughout, which is not common when dealing with the booklet's subject. GMM
As far as I can tell, and I am new at church history, this book is well written. Where there is conflict as to facts, it is pointed out. That is appreciated. I recommend this for newcomers to the church.
If you are a Presbyterian and have any interest in the history of your denomination, this book is a "must have". Great for elder or deacon required reading. A lot of relevant info in a small package. An easy read.
A pretty boring read.
