This book is perfect for my 3-year-old Star Wars obsessed son. I couldn't say how much an older kid would like this, but it is clearly not intended for bigger kids. My son enjoys the pictures and easy-to-follow "story". He's even started reading some of the words. No, there isn't a plot per se, it mainly is about the droid characters and what they do, in very simple sentences. Absolutely perfect for a little one just learning to read.We've read this book several times and it's a great little bedtime story for a parent. You can breeze through it in a couple of minutes even taking time to study the pictures and help your little one sound out the words. My son likes the whimsical illustrations, which are recognizable enough but not spot-on representations of the characters. The book covers droids all of the movies, including BB-8 from the new one. There are cameos by Luke, Leia, Han and most hilariously, Chewbacca. It's just a fun little book.
I purchased the I Am A Droid/Jedi/Pilot books after previously buying the complete Star Wars saga Little Golden Books for my 5 year old for Christmas. The saga books were a big hit with him, and they had nice, somewhat lengthy (for a Golden Book) summarizations of each movie. The "I Am" books, however, seem geared towards a slightly younger audience. Each page has a short sentence or two, and doesn't tell a story. Instead, it offers examples, traits, and what it means to be each thing. That being said, they are still nice little books and would be perfect for younger audiences with limited attention spans. The artwork is adorable, as well.
This is a very cute little book. It explains the purposes of all of the droids in the Star Wars galaxy. It touches on opposites, which is a point my preschooler is studying right now. My son is overly into Star Wars, mostly the droids, so I was really excited to get this for him. He was glad to see that BB-8 was included. I would recommend this to a preschool or kindergarten age Star Wars fan.
Books are great for Kids. My 3 year old Daughter become in love with Star Wars with all the Promotional items for the new Movie that came out in December 2015. So she loved R2D2, C3PO, and BB8 so she loves the book. Easy read for her once she starts reading as well.
These are such cute books for the little Star Wars fans or future fans. My husband and older son are fanatics so I bought this for our nine month old. I had no idea Little Golden Book had a Star Wars line. We buy a new one about once a month now.
R2 AND BB8 in one book? Oh yeah that blew my tiny toddler's mind when this came in. He loves this book SO much! And we really do enjoy reading the stories to him. They are funny and much like the movies just in shorter form.
Super cute book. My almost 3 year old boy loves it! He loves to talk about all the different kinds of droids, and it's a great way for him to experience Star Wars since he is way too young to watch the movies.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but I had to throw this little book away rather than showing it to my 4 year old grandson. It's full of guns and violence not at all appropriate for children in my opinion.
