This was a great book all around. The writing was great and consistent across each chapter, and the art ranged from good to very good, never dipping below that standard. I often don't enjoy crossovers with multiple writers or artists because they often seem inconsistent and unfocused, and there's often at least one writer or one artist that just isn't that good, but that isn't the case with this book. The story flows very well across all the chapters without losing momentum and without contradictions, and it's very entertaining from start to finish. As another review said, this book provides a great glimpse of the Marvel universe and features a lot of good characters. The overall plot was interesting, engaging, funny in spots, and a bit thought provoking. I really enjoyed this story and think it's one of Marvel's best event books. I'm glad I picked it up.
It was not over-complicated. It flowed well with all the tie-ins and was quite easy to understand. I enjoyed seeing many of the new hero teams in the Marvel Universe such as the Uncanny Avengers, the Illuminati, the New Avengers, Agents of SHIELD. This book helped me to get a better idea of some of the new character rosters and how they work.I also enjoyed seeing many of my favorite villains all in one book such as the Brothers Grimm, the Trapster, Graviton, The Red Skull, Moonstone, etc.... This was a fun read and I definitely recommend it to Marvel fans especially to ones who are trying to learn more about the current teams...
I really loved this crossover, featuring the return of a robust Steve Rogers & the set up of his new status quo. It was also great to see the return of Rick Jones, back as a human & not a blue Hulk / Abomination. More villains to throw a shield at, the great Baron Zemo also makes a great comeback & kicks the story off in style. A very cool creative collaboration, especially the art. I would recommend this to anyone, who loves a great Avengers story. Reminds me a bit of Roger Stern's "Under Siege" epic.
A fun story: I got what I was looking when I bought this Hc, a self contained , accesible and fun story. Two issues contained here are of great quality, the one of the Iluminatti collection featuring the Absorbing Man, and Rogue s solo issue.
