The Hidden Story Of Narnia: A Book-By-Book Guide To C. S. Lewis' Spiritual Themes
Ebooks Online

When ten-year-old Anne Waller from Suffolk England wrote to C. S. Lewis in 1961 with a question about The Chronicles of Narnia she never expected to receive a reply. However, not only did Lewis answer her letter, he also outlined the spiritual themes in each of the Narnia books. That letter served as inspiration for Will Vaus to write The Hidden Story of Narnia. Nearly 50 years later, Anne Waller Jenkins has written a preface for The Hidden Story, praising the author's "gift of clarity" and the "sheer joy and merriment" of his style.

This book is an excellent guide to the spiritual themes in the Narnia Chronicles. It goes book by book with a lot of the information that came from C.S. Lewis himself. A lot of work and thought has gone into this. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the Chronicles of Narnia.

I highly recommend this book! It is not easy to find a good guide through Narnia. Most guides want to dictate meaning into the books or treat them as an allegory which is exactly what CS Lewis said they were not! The Narnia books are an introduction to truth and an inspiration to the spirit and the imagination, preparing us to recognize truth! "The Hidden Story" suggests ideas about the stories and points out interesting parallels but without limiting the spirit of the books! Well done!

This book provides a fascinating review of the The Chronicles of Narnia Set, Books 1-7: The Magician's Nephew; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; The Horse and His Boy; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; Silver Chair, Last Battle, with helpful questions for discussion at the end of each chapter. If a teacher, or a family, or a book club, or a discussion group of any sort wanted a helpful guide to the series, with good, thoughtful and reflective questions to ask and think about: this book is it. Recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed a new, deeper perspective of the books I loved so much as a child. Vaus provides insight into Lewis' theology and his amazing ability to communicate deep philosophical and theological concepts in a way that a child can understand. I finished this book with a renewed desire to go back to Narnia and to know Aslan more fully.
