I found this book extremely meaningful for me. Each Name of God is significant in revealing a characteristic of God. The word God is so comprehensive that it is more than my mind can fathom. Yet, in studying the various Names of God, I can see the relationship God, Yahweh wants to have with me and all who would choose him.
This book provides a thorough biblical treatment of thirteen of the key names of God. It reads like a devotional but provides outstanding insight into the purpose behind the revelation of each name. This book has helped me to understand God's progressive revelation. It has enhanced my prayer life and I highly recommend it to every reader.
I had always wanted to study the different names for God. The way the names relate to the attributes and character of God is inspiring. This is a study I recommend for anyone desiring to grow in their spiritual life. Ken Hemphill writes in a way that holds your attention and interest. A must-read for any Bible reader desiring more understanding of our Creator!
The clear scripture would be helpful if the author would focus more upon that. It seems he strays, and avoids staying with scripture for revealation/meaning. This changes the book into a story more about him (author) than God. It is his experiences about God with his own personal filter absorbing most of the text. I hoped for a book fully about God, revealing the richness of His vast nature/character. I hope the author makes more room for God in his personal life than he does in this book.
This is a very informative book. I like studying anything that gives me a greater understanding of who God is. This book does that. I just wish I could remember everything I read. I will have to re-read it over and over.
The author writes with knowledge, experience and heart. Our Lord has truly given him a gift for clear and inspiring words. Good read for Christians or others wanting to learn more about Christianity.
It is a good book for understanding our God. The various different names used for God in the Bible aided me in appreciating the many facets of His being. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to know his or her God more intimately.
I am taking my time reading this book so I can absorb it, only a section each night. So far it has been a great read and I've learned a lot, things I can use in my 3rd/4th grade Sunday school class. I can enjoy and get more out of my Bible reading, because I can read God's personal name where I see LORD instead of 'the LORD' and when I see God's attributes written I can see His different names, ie. 'the Lord' El Shaddi, Adonei, El Elyon, etc. I think this book would be great for a small study group.
