Jill Roman Lord has written a wonderful book for 4- to 8-year-olds using the premise "If Jesus was with me all the time, here is how I would act and feel." The ending teaches that the "if" statement is true: Jesus is always with us. Using real-life examples, such as playing baseball, dealing with cruelty, and being sick, Jill shows kids that they don't need to be afraid. They can rely on Jesus to help them through. My daughter, who is currently learning to ride her bike, especially likes the example of how Jesus helps you get back on and ride even after you fall.Renee Graef's illustrations are warm and friendly and add to the comforting message of the book. I recommend If Jesus Walked Beside Me. It makes a great gift and a great tool to teach kids-yours or someone else's-that Jesus walks beside us every moment of every day.

Such a darling book that speaks to me as much as it does my children when we read it together. Just long enough to hold a child's attention. My children are 6 and 5, and love this series! I think I might love it even more.Also, it's theologically sound. :)

This book is great to assure your little one that Jesus is there even during the scary times. I am purchasing this book for several little ones I know.
My concern with this book is age appropriateness. To me, a young child might think bearded men are "friends" (like Jesus) & be more vulnerable to strangers. I think a child would need to be at least 8 years old before understanding the book. Just my opinion. Otherwise, I do like this author and story/message!
Our children love this book. It's one of their favorites along with several others by Jill Roman Lord. I highly recommend this and all of her books. Great way to teach how our faith comes into everyday life.
