I finished reading Julie Rowe's new book and loved it. This is an important book! I recommend the book highly and think it is the best account I've seen so far to put all the future prophesied events into one coherent, that-makes-a-lot-of-sense kind of story. I have read many other books with the message of preparing or the future, including Dreams and Visions I and II, Visions of Glory, There is No Death, I Stand All Amazed, Led by the Hand of Christ, Through the Window of Life, and others. In my opinion, this is the best one to help you prepare -- temporally and spiritually. Temporally, because she gives you great ideas of things that will be needed to endure the years of coming tribulation. Spiritually, because she synchronizes her testimony flawlessly with the testimony of all the latter-day prophets (literally) as well as casting more light on scriptures you may have read many times, but missed the meaning of. If the idea of a gathering is new to you, this book is also the best one, in my opinion, to introduce you or your loved ones to this idea and to describe in detail how things may play out. It answers A LOT of questions you may have and is easy reading for even young teenagers. It is THE book you would want to buy a dozen of and give to those you care about.In one part, she actually shares some of the things she and her husband have felt impressed to buy to be prepared for a time of gathering to places of refuge. In reading this, she confirmed so many things -- even little tiny details -- that I too have felt impressed to do and buy. It was such a neat second witness to me that all those other thoughts I have had have been inspired.When you are done reading this book, you are not left feeling like, "Well gee, that was an interesting concept ...
After reading this her second book, I'm really not sure about her first book.There are many many inconsistencies between her different accounts in her own books. She majorly discounted her NDE in her second book by saying she has had visions, dreams, and revelations going on for years now in which she has been getting her information. Even recently she has had more 'informative' revelations about specifics about these tent cities which she shares in great detail. She goes as far as to say we will be called to go to them within the next two years.Further, she mentions she has been very illThe first book was much easier to believe, this book really was hard for me to believe, or support.The most difficult part for me to handle were the thousands of LDS people who have been emailing her and asking her specifics about what to pack, if they can bring their pets, ebola, etc. So she decided to write another book and answer all their questions.Further, I've done research on these 'tent cities' and it seems to be a theory that has been around many many years. There have been books written about it and they are based on dreams, visions, and mainly the theory that since many righteous groups did have to separate themselves from the wicked thought biblical and Book of Mormon and latter-day history, we will be called to do so as well. Yet none of these books, websites, clubs (online forums), and blogs have any direct revelation or prophecy from prophets about these tent camps. I'm not sure about this theory anymore. I am actually doubting it now. But it could happen.Either way, until the first presidency directly talks about them I will continue on with my skepticism about this theory.
Julie's 2 books aren't meant to be works of scholarship, they are simply meant to testify of Christ and tell what to expect and how to prepare for his coming.There is new information in this book, and it is worth the read. It was published to answer questions that came up due to her first book. Many of the answers in this one are, "I'm not allowed to say," "I don't know," or "that's a great question for you to pray about and get an answer yourself." I think it's meant to be that way; a strong message that Julie isn't to be followed around like a celebrity. She has said what she is allowed to say and if you have any further questions, pray about it.I can sum up both books like this:Trust. in. the. Lord.DON'T miss a broadcast on a Sunday evening from the Prophet.Follow the prophet.Get at least a year supply of food, more if possible, because 7 years would be great.Get warm clothing.Get a 4 season tent.Get a water purifier.Get a tent stove.LOVE camping. (That's a hard one for me.)Expect miracles. Every kind of miracle from the scriptures and more.Have survival skills.I don't have a problem with getting information about how to spiritually and temporally prepare for the coming of Christ from people who have had NDE, dreams and visions. Use the spirit to know which are valid and of worth. The scriptures say that in the latter days people will dream dreams and have visions. The events of this book have been prophesied about in the scriptures and from modern day prophets. Many of those quotes are in this second book. The detailed coming events described in these two books can't come to us over the pulpit, it just can't. Think about it.
