I heard Judy Landrieu Klein on the Catholic Connection radio program with Teresa Tomeo. Judy talked about her husband's experience and I ordered the book THAT DAY on . It is an amazing story and a fast read. (She writes like we talk.) Judy talked that her husband should have died as he had the "widow maker" heart attack, but God spared him at that moment and the journey that he, Judy, their family and all their friends were on for the next 187 days was all about what God was doing for them.I have purchased more of these books to give to others and to make sure it is in our local library. With ISIS on the rise, I feel we should all truly prepare ourselves to meet our Maker; this book may do just that.
I read the manuscript of this book and am delighted to see it has finally been published. When I received a copy from the author I re-read it and couldn't put it down even though it was my second reading. Judy writes with humour about circumstances in her life that most people would initially find nothing funny about. It is a great story of how all things, even those we would just as soon avoid, can serve to bring us into a new place of clarity, truth and freedom within ourselves. It's a beautiful book of faith and perseverance.I highly recommend it.
I highly recommend Miracle Man by Judy Klein. It’s an inspiring and riveting story of her husband Bernie’s conversion experience arising out of a near death encounter with Jesus during a six week coma brought on by a massive heart attack. The author shares her own ordeal with its emotional ups and downs as she follows her husband’s condition week after week. It is a story of love and endurance, toughness and tenderness, fear and faithfulness, culminating in an affirmation of God’s love and mercy for Bernie. This book will change the way you think about end of life issues. It offers a great example of the mercy and love HE has for all of us. It's funny too, I love Judy's style.
An excellent and poignantly written account of one couples journey through the hardest of times, of how the grace of God made the unbearable bearable and of how God's timing is not our timing. We witness how one woman's faith sustained her on a roller coaster of hope and despair. This book avoids sentimentality, pat answers and shallow platitudes. It is, in places, brutally honest about past mistakes and regrets but never slips into self pity. The author is sustained by her faith but never pretends to know God's will along the way. Her faith is often strongest in the worst of circumstances and is based on who God is not what He does. This book will encourage anyone going through a life altering trial that if we seek God He will be faithful to give us what we need as he works out His plan in our lives.
Your book strengthened my faith and encourages me to continue to hold on to the Zephyr ride that my life has become over these last few years. Like the author, my hopes and dreams for my life has not equalled to the equation that I'd strived for and I find myself surrendering to His will and trusting Romans 8:28. This book was so heartfelt and easy to read. It made me smile and brought me to tears but most importantly it renewed my strength and my faith. It made me appreciate your state, our Catholic heritage and our j'our defense vivre! Thank you and please know that you fulfilled Bernie's wish to get the message out.
What a story of perseverence through so many difficult times. Very inspiring and very helpful as I confront suffering as an older man in poor health. A beautiful example of married love in very difficult times.
This is a very special book. It is written with great skill and candor. The author shares the familystory of joys and sorrows. Then the reader enters an intense medical and spiritual adventure.It is extremely inspiring. CS
