I think we all know the story of St Michael the Archangel defeating Lucifer and throwing him out of heaven. The Life and Prayers of Saint Michael the Archangel gives a lot more information about his role in the Church. I never thought about St. Michael being the one who will guide us to heaven when we die. Also St Michael is consular to souls in purgatory. I read an article where a priest referred to "our favorite venial sins" that we sometimes don't want to stop doing. We can use the prayers in this book to help us with this because really isn't even a venial sin a victory for Satan. Besides a lot of history this book also contains novenas and a chaplet to St Michael.Also to non Catholics when we pray to saints and Mary we are really asking them to pray to God and Jesus for us the same way we ask our friends to pray for us when we have struggles and difficulties.
This book has a lot of interesting information about Saint Michael and there is a very nice collection of prayers in the book too. I really enjoyed reading this book, and will continue to use the information and prayers. This is only one in the "Life and Prayers" series. I own some, but look forward to downloading more in the future as more become available. Since my childhood I have always enjoyed stories of the lives of the saints. These books are a treasure to own and the prayers are an added bonus. Thank you for writing this series of books on the saints. I hope you keep the series going with many many more to come.
This book is short but has a great deal of information and motivation. Small but powerful would fitting. The author keeps my interest and I would consider this a Keeper to refer back to.
As an adult convert in the mid seventies, I knew St. Michael's name and was taught one prayer; the prayer I was told, used to be said at Mass. I really knew little else about the Saint who threw Lucifer out of Heaven.As I read The Life and Prayers of Saint Michael the Archangel, I felt I was being introduced to the oldest and dearest friend of our family. By the time I got to the second half of the book, I was anxious to pray the beautiful prayers in thanks givings to our Lord and our wonderful,fascinating advocate: A real person, an Archangel, and my dear friend. Now when I introduce St. Michael to someone I will say: This is my dear friend Saint Michael, he's the Archangel who defeated Lucifer in combat, we go way back, as a matter of fact, he has been protecting and helping our family from the beginnings of time.
This is the fourth book in the "The Life and Prayers of..." series and as expected, this one is fantastic. The first half discusses the life and the second half contains prayers. Whether you have a deep devotion to Saint Michael already or wish to learn more about this saint, you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Wyatt North, for each of the books in this series and please keep them coming!
This timely book served me as a definite reminder of one thing at least I had taken for granted. I had almost forgotten the significance os St Michael the Archangel. He is who accompanies our souls after death to heaven. He our protector. This book also gives me new information about St Michael in the ancient Jewish tradition texts. This is also confirmed via The Book of Enoch of the Zohar. Excellent in its presentation. Pensive in its reception. Thank you Wyatt North.
This really is just a collection of thoughts on St. Michael and the Archangles . There is a lot of information but NO footnotes or reference s are included. I am a first grade catechist and I found two factual errors. I suspect that there are more errors . Catholic books that are true to the faith will have the Nihil Obstat and/or the Imprimatur on the inside cover . This book has neither and may have dangerous errors. I do not recomend it .
This entire series is fantastic and just gets better as the series grows. Another fine offering by Wyatt North. Keep these great books coming. They are swiftly becoming a cornerstone of my Kindle Catholic resource library!
