On The Incarnation: Saint Athanasius (Popular Patristics)
Ebooks Online

On the Incarnation , a new translation and introduction by John Behr, Preface by C.S. Lewis By any standard, this is a classic of Christian theology. Composed by St. Athanasius in the fourth century, it expounds with simplicity the theological vision defended at the councils of Nicaea and Constantinople: that the Son of God himself became "fully human, so that we might become god." Its influence on all Christian theology thereafter, East and West, ensures its place as one of the few "must read" books for all who want to know more about the Christian faith.

Having first learned of Athanasius in a Christian History course he sparked my interest in his works. A great early apologist with a heart for the truth and a passion that kept his writings engaging. This is a great book to add to any library and will only serve to encourage and strengthen your faith!P.S. This particular edition has an introduction from C.S Lewis that is also well written and worth reading!

Fantastic!!! Loved this master piece. Must read if one wants to defend the philosophical and theological basis/reasoning why(and if at all) Lord of all creation took upon a body and came down to live with us. Also his writings take in to account almost all possible objections that can be raised against the incarnation of our Lord. Has a separate section by Athanasius on how to answer Jewish objections and also Gentile (Greek) objections to the reality of Incarnation. Nothing like this, I have ever read on 'Incarnation" .

This is a fantastic exposition of trinitarian theology and I would eagerly recommend it to people of all faiths. This book has been an inspiration and guide for close to two thousand years and for a very good reason.

This is a great read. The preface by C.S. Lewis is masterful and worth the price just to read it. The book itself is great insight into clear doctrine expounded for the last 1700 years. If you clicked on this book, buy it. It's one you need in your library.

Athanasius may not have believed that Jesus had a human soul, but his reasons for the Incarnation are incredibly simple and profound. This book is a great resource for scholarly work, as the Introduction by John Behr gives you a great summary of "Against the Gentiles", which is a Part 1 of sorts. The book itself is about 100 pages, with introductions comprising half that. Short and simple read! A must-have for any theologian's bookshelf!

The introduction by C.S. Lewis is worth the price of this book alone. Everyone should read the intro. The book is good too.

This book will change the way you understand God's love for his creation including you. A book that was written in ancient times brings clarity to theology like you have never known. This is a must read for anyone who wishes to have a better understanding of God's relationship with you.

I was disappointed in the fact that the translation endorsed in the introduction by C.S. Lewis was a newer translation that C.S. Lewis did not endorse. The main reason I ordered this book was for its original translation which C.S. Lewis endorsed and I have read before in a university library copy. The newer translation is ponderous and does not read well.
