This is a great 1st Bible for small children (2-6). The rhyming format and vivid illustrations on each page are great for keeping the attention of little ones. I was also pleased that, although paraphrases, the stories generally remain true to the Biblical text. I read 2-3 stories from this book to my 5-year-old daughter nearly every night. We've gone through the entire book several times and just keep starting over again!
My one-year-old daughter and I just love this book! I have some other individual Bible stories for her, but they just didn't hold her attention or interest. Not only does this toddler-sized book accomplish that, but there are quite a collection of stories to choose from! The rhythm and rhymes are fun, and we plan to read from this book every day!
Delightful. More expensive than the rhyme bible for toddlers, but is also twice as thick. The two books are drawn by the same artist. I recommend buying this one instead of the toddler version because it is big and thick and thorough enough to worth the extra money.
I am so pleased with this bible storybook and how well it follows the bible that I am purchasing it for baby gifts from now on! My son is three and this is his FAVORITE book. We have read through it numerous times. HIGHLY Recommend this book! You will not be disapointed!!
I'm pretty picky, and looked a long time before I settled on this children's bible for my 3yo. I am so happy with my decision! The rhythms are smooth, the stories a good length, the details just right, and the illustrations a nice balance between fun and attractive.I feel like a lot of children's bibles either strive for too much unnecessary detail or stray too far from the original text, but I was surprised at the level of scriptural accuracy this book maintained in simple verse form (for example, the three wise men don't show up at the manger, but later when Jesus is a toddler). I'm also pleased that difficult subject matter is handled well. I was always upset when I was little that the pharaoh's horses drowned in the Red Sea, too, but in this version there is an underwater illustration with a horse and chariot sinking, and the horse is looking at the reader with a sort of "D'oh!" expression that makes the situation seem less intense for younger readers. My daughter loves this book and asks me to read it for her, which is exactly what I was looking for. I don't want to inflict religion on my daughter; I want my daughter, instead, to find and fall in love with Jesus. This fun, well written, and well thought out children's bible is a wonderful introduction.
This is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a children's Bible. The rhymes are clever enough to keep both adult and child wanting more. My three year old twins can't get enough and would let me read it cover to cover every night if I could! We currently have three or more children's Bibles in our collection and none of them are as thorough or as effective at conveying the actual texts as this one. Even the difficult subject of Jesus' crucifixion was explained beautifully and left my inquisitive toddlers understanding better why Jesus died. A "must have" for every child's library.
This is my third time purchasing this bible. I have four kids and each copy inevitably gets colored in or torn (and worn) from use. We read it every night. What's GREAT about this Bible are the rhymes. My children have memorized the Bible stories because the rhymes make it easy to do so.It's the very best way to introduce children to Bible stories that they will remember FOREVER! My oldest is nine and she's never forgotten. If I say the first sentence of the story my kids can complete it because of the ryhme. They want to read from this Bible EVERY NIGHT. It's absolutely fantastic. We bring it to life with melody and actions and the Bible story lessons really stick.I pray this Bible never goes out of print. I'll want to use it with my grandchildren!!!
We bought the Jesus Storybook Bible first, because we had heard SO many great things about it. It is a really fabulous resource, and I would encourage anyone to read it. However, our little girl just did NOT have the attention span to pay attention for the long stories (she is not quite 2 years old)! I saw The Rhyme Bible Storybook recommended on a blog, and decided to try it. Turns out, The Rhyme Bible is a wonderful resource as well, with beautiful illustrations and much shorter stories, that flow and rhyme in an easy cadence, which is great for her language development. It takes us about 30-45 seconds to read a story, and we usually read 3-4 stories in one sitting. She loves it! It has been a perfect resource for us to use, until our little girl is ready for the Jesus Storybook Bible.
