I am a new convert to the church, by new I mean 3 years. I read the book of Mormon when I was investigating the church and now I am reading it for a second time with the aid of this book. Let me just start off by saying that this is truly a wonderful gift! I read one review where the reviewer said, "avoid this book like the plague" and that it, "dumbs down" the book of Mormon. I don't agree with this at all. in fact, the great thing about this book is that it is indeed SO simple! It puts it into terms that someone who has never read the book of Mormon can even understand! Even those younger adults who are trying to grow in their testimony and maybe reading TBOM seriously for the first time.I realize this person was merely commenting that we need growth, we need the "solid foods", but at the same time, it is SO SO important to remember the simple things of the Gospel. We can't all be Gospel Doctrine teachers, but we can be firm and unmovable in the simple truths of our Heavenly Father and THEN we can move on to the deeper principles. "Line upon line, precept upon precept."Reading this book is by no means a "simple read", in that context, in my opinion. There are things I NEVER would have thought about or would even have crossed my mind! And I studied The Book of Mormon like a college kid prepping for an exam before my baptism. There was NO WAY I was going to join a religion and make this life changing decision without being thoroughly informed.If you are further along in your understanding of the Gospel, then fine, don't get this book, but do not shame those of us still learning.
