If I were still working as a school librarian, I would want this book in the library. I would also want to read this book to the younger children when they first are introduced to the library and school. It is nice to have books like this one to help little folks adjust to their new world of school. The monsters are great. The colors are brilliant. I like this book a lot and would definitely want copies in classroom reading corners and in libraries. This particular book would be very nice in calming nervous children about new situations. I do recommend it.

Monsters Love School is a great book for ages 3.5-8. My 7 year old of course can read this book all by herself without help from me, so that makes it even more special for her. The one thing in particular that I loved about this book was that one of the Monsters was worried that nobody would like him, but the other Monster reassured him that he would make plenty of new friends. That was really good to put in there because that is a fear of so many children and it's nice that a story would bring it up and help to reassure them that everything will be ok! The illustrations are funny and colorful, which helps keep their attention. On one of the Monster's lunch boxes it says "I Love Lunch" and my 7 year old agrees. This story does help my four year old learn more school words and associate them with the pictures she sees since nearly everything is labeled. I highly recommend this book as it is in our bedtime story rotation!

I bought this as a follow-up to the Monsters Love Colors book and....... it was nice, but fell short for me and my son. I think we have only read it twice since we got it. This book is just about what goes on during the school day and you really don't learn anything from it, like the color book. It also doesn't have the fun wild side that I found with the other book and nothing for the child to participate in.That being said, if you don't compare it to the "Colors" book or haven't read it, then is is a fun little book about going to school and what goes on. Cool artwork and monsters in a monster school with various teachers. It is a good introduction to what a kid should expect with a bit of silliness and fun times ahead mixed in.

I actually bought this book for my son just to show him you can put more than just games on a kindle. ;) He will start K this fall. He loved this book! If your child is even the slightest bit afraid to head off to school for the first time this fall, I recommend this book to help ease some of those fears. It's fun and gives them an idea of what they will be doing and learning in school!

Very primary...preschool or kindergarten

My nearly 4 year old daughter loves this book. We borrowed it from the library, but she has asked to buy it so it doesn't have to go back. She was (and still is) a huge fan of the Monsters Love Colors book, and she loves these monsters in this new book even more. She enjoys hearing what goes on at Monster School- it's a cute but basic story. The school item checklist page is my favorite for teaching her word recognition for school supplies (the word tape and paper next to a picture of the item)- it holds her interest so she actually pays attention to the word and the spelling. Pinky is her favorite monster in this book- she loves her eyelashes. :)

This is a nice book about making friends and going (back) to school. The monsters are cute and funny. I like how they all got along and helped the new monster. That was nice. The monsters show how fun school can be. The art has a cool style and I really like the patterns in the monsters.*NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Easily a favorite with my 4 year old, husband and I. We got this after purchasing 2 of Mike Austin's other books. Like those others, the writing is brilliant, pictures are bright and colorful. There are lots of details in the pages and a great informational story.I found this book to be very interactive with my 4 year old that loved when my husband and I did the different voices of all the many characters. Some familiar faces, from Monsters Love Colors showed up! He loved that. 😊Which brought the color recognition into play! Got to love that. I recommend this to anyone who has a child new to the school scene. It's a great conversation starter for your child's questions on all the different things about their new environment. 5 stars! Can't wait for more Mike Austin books! We're huge fans at our house. Check out his other books if you buy and like this one.
