After many years of trying one study bible after another, the Navarre Bible was simply a godsend. The introduction to the Gospel provides very useful information. References to various Church documents and the cross-reference to other books in the Bible, are a great help. The notes provide useful insights that give pointers for further study, for anyone who wants to go deeper into Bible study.Laura
This edition is similar to the Navarre Reader edition (OmniBus), but seperated to the individual gospels. It seems cheap if you look at the price, but if you want to buy the whole new testament, it is more expensive. In that case I suggest you buy the Reader edition. I would say its very portable. Unfortunately its softbound so I don't think this would last very long if frequently used. The notes inside is very detailed and its the best I've seen so far. Just FYI I like the notes in the Navarre compared to the St. Ignatius Catholic study bible.
I have more than 5 Navarre Bible books, covering the Gospels and the Books of St Paul. The footnotes lead one thru a careful, precise investigation of the beautiful words of the apostles. If You're serious ab out studying God's holy Word, you won't go wrong with any of the Navarre Bible books. Praises be Jesus Christ!
I am a Bible Teacher and this is one of the best Catholic Study Bibles around. Is in English and Latin with intense commentaries. Also includes maps. Wouldn't teach without it!
The Navarre has been my favorite for years. It is 'meaty' and helps you understand passages more clearly.
The Navarre edition on the study of the Gospel of St. Matthew is excellent.
