God shows His love for us in many ways - by sending us rain to make the flowers grow, by giving us loving families, and by giving us his Word to read. God showed his love for us many years ago when he sent his son, Jesus, to die for us so that we might someday live forever in Heaven. The Prayer That Makes God Smile is the one we pray when we ask Jesus to come into our hearts.Stormie Omartian writes in a style that speaks to kids. She makes the concept of accepting Jesus into our hearts easily understood. The illustrations, by Shari Warren, enhance the text by incorporating lively, colorful pictures throughout the book and emphasizing certain words in the text. The author has made the book interactive by adding two special pages at the end. The first one called "My Prayer to Receive Jesus" gives children a sample prayer they can pray when they're ready to receive Jesus. There's a place where your child can enter his/her name and the date he/she prayed "the prayer that makes God smile." The other page is titled "My Prayer to Tell Jesus I Love Him." It gives children a sample prayer to pray after being saved. There are some blank lines on the page. The instructions say: "Make a little smiley face on the lines below this prayer every time you pray it, and you will be reminded that God is smiling down on you."What I Like: Everything. This book is written in a very kid-friendly way. It's a great tool to use when trying to explain the message of salvation. This would be useful for Sunday School teachers and any others who work with younger kids. What I Dislike: Nothing.Overall Rating: Excellent.Age Appeal: The publisher recommends 9-12-year-olds as the ideal age group, but I think this book would also appeal children a bit younger, also, like 7- or 8-year-olds.Christine M. Irvin - Christian Children's Book Review

We ordered this for our five year old to dive a little deeper into asking Jesus into your heart. There is a prayer you can have your child pray at the end of the book, but I made sure I let her know that when SHE is ready we could pray the following prayer. Great book!

We love this book, I purchased it for my 3 yr old. We read it every night, its a great way to communicate the gospel. I would make a few changes about how she talks about we need medicine, which we do sometimes, I'd opt for food or other necessary items, otherwise its great. I am very glad I purchased it and am recommending it to friends & family.

Absolutely love this book because it shares in such a simple way what it means to become a Christian. This is a gem because this is the first children's book that I have found that shares the gospel in a way that children can grasp. I highly recommend for your children and grandchildren!

My kids sit forever to read books but how it is written or for whatever reason, the lose interest. I end up summarizing. Love the message BUT there are some wording about how God gave us families etc that feel like some kids could be sad or hurt if they didn't have family or the things listed. (I.e. Explaining what we "need" etc). But think it prob works for most kids, just a few things that I wish were changed. Or maybe just shorter in general.

I have 3 kiddos from 2-6 and they all like this book, the 2yr old and 4 yr old pay more attention to the illustrations, while the six year old pays more attention to the story. It is a good way to explain why we pray and how children don't need to wait for their parents to talk to God. We read it at least once a week.

I bought this book for my 6 year old to teach him more about praying to God!! As a 6 year old who reads on a 2nd grade level, the reading is beneath his level and he thinks it is a "too easy book" for him. But the concept of the book is what I really wanted for him.....the teaching of the text was more what I was going for, and simple enough to understand for a 4 year old I would say!We will be using this with my 6 year old and again with our little one when he gets a bit older!!!

Because it helps leads children to know the Lord Jesus and his love for them in a simple way leadine them to pray the prayer that opens the door of their heart to invite Jesus to enter, thus obeying his command.
