I love this book because I can teach my kids songs and rhymes about God. I love the spiral format which can stand alone. This book has wonderful activities that entertain my little 3month old as well as my three year old. Highly recommend!
We started using this book when our daughter was about 6 months old. We still use it now--she's 2 and a half--and her brother (8 months now) has joined us since his birth. We love the simple content, the Scripture, the rhymes, the spiral bind--well, we can't find anything wrong with it, basically! It has been interesting to watch our children's participation each night change as they grow older. We have been through the whole book about 4 or 5 times (we do one devotion for a whole week--the kids like the repetition, and it aids in memorization of the scripture, rhymes, etc). If you want to start devotions with your children at a young age, this is the book to begin with! It makes it fun for them...and fun for you, too!
This is a great book for the very youngest children. It is written in a very simple, easy to use format. Each day consists of a key thought, Bible verse, and simple game to play, song to sing, or rhyme to say, and then ends with a prayer. It is in a spiral bound book that can be stood up on a table or floor for easy reference while leading the devotion with your little one. The activities are very simple and good for language development with very little kids. The book is intended for children age birth through age 3. It seems a little too simple for older twos, though. Overall, this is a great book for ideas on how to lead a devotion with babies and young toddlers and would be a great resource for a home, nursery, or Sunday School class.
I think I was expecting a little more from this book, but once I started using it, I really liked it. It is VERY basic and perfect for my infant. But because it is so easy, it actually works for my toddlers, too. They have a verse to learn, a song to sing or game to play and a prayer to say. The book itself is VERY DURABLE so it is great for when little fingers want to look at it themselves!!!
I was super excited about ordering this book, but it just came in the mail today and I am disappointed. It will not work for what I needed. I was looking for a way to have active worship time with my 15 month old. I had a book a long time ago (I can't find it) that had short stories and little activities like rocking a baby doll or marching around "Jericho". I was hoping for something along those lines. That is not this book. I can tell you what it DOES have though:Each page has a theme, a short verse, a rhyme or song (usually words to go with a familiar tune) and a closing prayer. If that's what you are looking for, this may be the book for you. I was just hoping for something more application focused and with a little more depth.
Overall, I really like this book. They songs in it are great and my 2 1/2 year daughter loves them. My only complaint is that it has A LOT of "Patty Cake" rhymes. I was there were more songs. The songs are catchy and we will continue to use them as my daughter gets older.
I thought this was going to be mini stories to read with my daughter, but it's songs instead. I'm not much of a singer, and it sounds a little silly to be reading some of them. Was really hoping for some short stories to read with my daughter and "discuss" (as much as you can with a toddler).
I highly recommend this book. I bought it to use with my two year old so that we can begin teaching her scriptures. We use one page for each week. Each page has a bibke point, verse, a simple song, and prayer. This has been a great way for us to begin morning devotions together. I look forward to using this with my infant as well when he gets a little older.
