My prayer life was stale. Talking to God seemed like a duty, and I treated God like a genie. However, Praying the Psalms by Michael Wolff was a game-changer! The devotional has Scripture lingering throughout prayers written in the vernacular, then some author thoughts to contemplate, and space for reflection. The prayers guided me graciously and pointed me to go deeper with God, which is the ultimate message.I'm also glad for the encouragement to say what I'm thinking to the Lord, and drop the idea that I have to say the correct words at the correct time. Most importantly, this book taught me how to pray God's Word back to him, which is not only an incredible experience, but a powerful tool to take down Hell's gates. Praying the Psalms puts believers on the offensive, rather than the defensive!*I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.

Praying Today's Psalms is a great look into the mind and heart of David who was a man after God's own heart. This is a great study and it really opened my eyes on how to pray more from the heart than from the mind. We often tend to want to pray the way we think God wants to hear us pray and we neglect the fact that God wants a relationship with us and wants us to just talk with him and commune with him.We we pray from the heart like David did, we can find a ourselves falling into a deeper relationship with the Lord and that is a great place to be. I'm really glad that I found these books and learned how to pray through the Psalms, it has really changed my prayer life and deepened my relationship with God even more.Praying Today's Psalms has you pray through actual chapters from Psalms in light of the New Testament. This is an amazing read and every Christian needs to read this and practice praying through the Psalms to truly learn how to pray from the heart. If every Christian truly prayed from the heart imagine the difference we could make in the world.5 out of 5 Stars, I can't recommend this book enough.

What are the psalms there for? For several reasons, no doubt, but this book focuses in on one and, I believe, the most important one; encouragement in times of despair. If you're going through a tough time, or you want a shield for when you will be (and you will), you should get this book. I think the best way to read it is to read the Psalm in your favorite version, then pray through this book's "version" of the Psalm, followed by Mike's (fantastic) comments. You'll be amazed at how beneficial this will be to your Spiritual well-being.

The author said he had a problem praying effectively. So do most of the rest of us. Then some one suggested that he try praying the Psalms. Some of the Psalms are songs, some are poems etc., but many were prayers. Read one of the prayer types and think about how it relates to your life, pray about it with God. That is the general idea he is putting forth, and it made sense to me.

Prayig Today's Psalms has opened a new walk with God for me. I no longer merely read the psalms, I bring my petitions to God along with the one who did so centuries ago. Michael weaves in thoughts from the New Testament, bringing new depth to old words. He has added a section entitled "Consider" and a page for you to write down your thoughts. This is a book I will turn to again and again.

there is nothing more comforting or helpful in hard times than the Psalms. King David in the Bible really understood pain, fear and confusion than he did. I read it when thing are overwhelming and I need to hear what God says. I read them when I just fell alone and confused, or angry and afraid. Just try this one, it helps.

This awesome book, this new way of looking at praying God's word back to Him, has helped me SO much in my personal prayer life. In fact, several of us are using the book in a Bible study setting. This author has great insight.

Praying Today's Psalms has brought my prayers much more in focus. I very much like the technique Mike Wolff uses to guide our prayers and bring them closer to God's own words. Can't wait for the balance of the Psalms to be handled this way. Thank you Mike!
