I first checked these out at the public library. As soon as I finished the first one, I ordered the whole set for my nine-year-old grandson. He reads above grade level and, while not the type of book that he usually reads, I think he will enjoy them. Gives kids a fairly realistic look at a career that many wouldn't even consider at age 9. And if John Grisham wrote it, could it be a disappointment?
Excellent reads. My kids are in 5,6,&7th and they all have read them and loved them even my daughter who is the oldest. I thought she might not like them but she did and have read all 4. She said it's not hard words used so she understands it. And there is plenty of action.
OK, I'll be honest here. I am an adult, but I do enjoy these books. My father and I were going on a road trip a few years back, and since he likes the author, he just grabbed the 1st book of the series from the library (not realizing it was for kids). We both enjoyed listening to the first one during our trip (mind you my Father is about 60). Now I always borrow one when I am planning on a long drive, provided there is a new one to listen to. I would definitely recommend for kids, or for families who are going on a road trip.
I have nearly ALL of John Grisham's books. This series is quite different from all of his others.I especially like the fact that I could purchase them as a box set. Have already recommendedthem to all of my "John Grisham" friends!
