Well thought out and put together. Purchased it the day it became available from (5/18/2015) (you'll notice this is a verified purchase unlike some reviews for books from other authors). If you're on the fence between this and the book from Lammle, get this one, or order both and return Lammle when you see how much better this one is. Unfortunately, since Lammle's was the first to print (by about two weeks), I have his as well, which I wrote in, so there will be no returns for me.I'll come back and firm up this review after I've completed the book, but this one seems like a winner from the first few chapters.
This book helped me pass the N+ 006 . The book covers all the objectives pretty well. I read the book twice and took the practice exams. I also usedProfessor Messer videos also.
I never thought I would be able to pick up an instruction book like this and actually WANT to continue reading it! Great for someone who knows what they are doing and wants to prepare for the Network + Certification, or for someone like me... I have an interest, I'm working on my degree, but I don't have any real world experience with networks. This is a great read! Worth every penny! (And the information really does stick in your head!)
Definitely a must read for Network Specialists. What I like about this book is that it is definitely a more well rounded approach to networking. Very useful information on cables, fiber optics, physical installation...its just an excellent fundamentals book. If I were to choose an order, it would be this book to get a broad but solid base and then CCNA (or whatever vendor specific material) to focus in on a particular product, but definitely this Network+ to get a solid foundation.
Excellent book for the Network+ exam. Tried another book by Pearson and it left many items out. Meyers covers all the material on the test in an easy to understand format. Some books go through the objectives in order, leaving you to figure out material that will be covered later. This book is in a learning sequence and a conversation style. Mike Meyers also explains how you will use what your learning and how and what it will be used with, not just definitions. The CompTIA Network+ asks a fair amount of questions in troubleshooting scenarios. You will have to know more than just the definition of a protocol to get by. I Highly recommend this book for the Network+ exam.
The book is good and easy to follow but I have both the Kindle and the hardcover versions and the Kindle skips paragraphs that the book has. Also wish the end of chapter questions don't have the answers on the same page. Should out it at the end of the book or the next full page spread. If can publish an updated version of the book to include all of the text from the hardcover I would raise my rating to 4.5 stars.
Really a good read! I have taken a Network course at the local College, and have read the CompTIA Network+ text (twice). I really want to pass the test, so I thought I would try Mike Meyers book to do one last review of the subject. I bought it because the reviews of the book are very good, but I was hesitant to spend this much for another book like the one I had. I found this is worth it! Mike is so easy to read and understand. He fills in details the other Network book leaves out, gives little tidbits and examples. I used Mike's books for CompTIA A+ and passed, so wish I had bought this in the first place.
Brilliantly written. Far better than a "Dummies" book (that series has tanked, of late). This is a non-fiction book that is actually an enjoyable read. And if the contents of this book are any indication, this exam is far more comprehensive than a CISCO study guide. If you are a bit weak in general computing, but still want to go for a networking certificate, this book will fill in all the gaps and then some.
