Priests and Bishops and the Catholic Church as a whole are often accused of being out of touch with reality of everyday family life. This book will show you how in touch they really are in understanding the modern day struggles of families all over the world. It offers hope and encouragement and is a must read for all.
Perhaps I shouldn't have expected the driven passion of Elie Wiesel's Souls on Fire, but this came off as a mediocre restatement of valid, true, important maxims about family and love. I was not exhorted, not filled with much of anything, let alone joy.
Printing was high quality and the study guide really help me understand Pope Francis' latest encyclical.
Every family and married couple should read this book.
I love the writings of Pope Francis. They are easy to read but always full of deep meaning. The Joy of Love is no exception. This is Pope Francis' reflections on the two Synods on Marriage and the Family. In it he lays out the Church's teachings on love, marriage and the family in a beautiful and understandable way. His reflections on I Cor. 13 (paragraphs 89-119) are inspiring.
Revives the teaching of the primacy of conscience and encouraged discernment regarding the cases of "irregular" marriage. Faithful to the synods (Check the footnotes!), but more pastoral in application.
There are many practical reflections in this piece, especially in the sections on marriage and the family. This is the fruit of a life spent listening to many people and considering what has been heard in light of the Gospel.
Beautiful and thought provoking. Controversial issues not resolved - more input needed from the people in the pews.
