They are awesome to do if you have the equipment. If not, just reading the commands is good too but to really get the knowledge, one needs to use his/her fingers to get the brain cells going. These cover way more than what is on the test and that is a good thing. Thee labs provide some great review if you have or had a handle on the concepts but if this is the first time you have gone through the course, do them again and again. You won't regret it. The reason for the 4 stars is that the equipment may be a bit hard to acquire as 3560 v2's are still kind of expensive. If you can use CML or VIRL from Cisco, then go for it as those are really good tools to use. I was able to use real 3750's on top of CML and scored a 958 on the exam. Good stuff. Most can be done using only 2 switches to get a grip on the syntax and output for what is asked for on the exam but 3 is ideal. Couple this lab book with Chris Bryant and his 300-115 course and the test becomes a formality.
Great practice/study tool if you have live equipment. Only complaint is that there are a lot of mis configurations writhing the output and no answers to the questions they ask, although they are pretty straight forward.
Overall good manual, far more than what is covered in the CCNP Switch 300-115 exam.
