I completely agree with the comment above that this is a slow and painful read. I'm still trudging my way through it, but it takes a lot of discipline to keep up with. That's not the biggest problem however, given that the information is so technical this is somewhat expected. A much bigger issue is that the book is FULL OF ERRORS. There are 28 PAGES OF CORRECTIONS posted on Cisco's site for this book ("updates" tab, download errata)!!! It's unacceptable and unforgivable to release a book without proofreading it first. Frankly, anyone who spent money on this "first draft" should be given a free second edition once the corrections have been made.

I'd hoped that with such a long errata (currently 31 pages) there might be a second printing available for purchase by now. Unfortunately when I contacted Cisco Press about this it's still just the one printing available. I've liked previous books from Diane Teare, including her Foundations book for the 642-902 exam, but the state this book was released in leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This is reprehensible Cisco.

While the information may be good the quantity of errors is unacceptable. Having to read the text and simultaneously vet the information against the text's errata is a pathetic course of action. I am not certain how Cisco Press justifies the following disclaimer on the Cisco Press website:"Warning and DisclaimerEvery effort has been made to make this book as complete and as accurate as possible, but no warranty or fitness is implied. The information provided is on an "as is" basis. The author and the publisher shall have neither liability nor responsibility to any person or entity with respect to any loss or damages arising from the information contained in this book or from the use of the CD or programs accompanying it."Were it not for the fact that does not allow a zero star rating I would not have given it one star. Why Cisco and its authors expect those of us learning the material to accept so many mistakes is unknown to me. However, this is a systemic problem throughout Cisco's texts.

Implementing Cisco IP Routing (Route) provides a solid overview of the topics covered by the CCNP Route 300-101 exam. My primary interest in this text was to familiarize myself with the new topics in preparation for recertification. For the previous Route test, I used the Official Certification Guide by Wendell Odom. I found over the course of reading that I prefer the OCG format and focus versus the FLG. This book is well written and organized, and is a fine addition to one’s library as it provided a good understanding of a very broad range of technologies. However, in the future I will probably look at the OCG for focused test preparation.

The book currently has a word document 32 pages long of errata. The amount of errors I have found not listed in the errata would double the errata size. Reading this book is extremely slow and difficult knowing that it's extremely likely you are learning inaccurate information. This forces you to utilize other sources to verify everything you are reading.

Great book with tons of information. I have a BS in Systems Network Administration. I also have an associates degree in computer electronics I took a years worth of Cisco networking academy classes and CCNP class. My title is electronic support specialist at the community college in which I took all the Cisco courses. My job is to maintain all of the Cisco networking equipment. This book helps me to help assist with the students and the faculty for implementing additional learning as well as the equipment upkeep.
